As a young public relations professional I had the honor of working with Ted at Michael Reese Hospital. His perception and skill were amazing, his kindness and wit made life fun. I truly enjoyed the years I worked with him and the time and knowledge he bestowed on me. He was one of my father’s best friends (Lou Joseph). I believe Ted was one of the few people he saw just before he passed away. He kept in touch with him throughout his life and considered him one of the most meaningful people in his life.

I still have a few Michael Reese newsletters (1980s?) where Ted’s articles and other contributions always made for fun reading and interesting insights into the hospital and healthcare. My condolences to his entire family.

My mom (Edith Lovinger) worked for Ted when I was in high school. I remember going down to the basement when I came to pick her up (sometimes I was allowed to use her car). And I will never forget the enormous snake (was it a boa constrictor?) who lived down there. Ted always asked if I wanted to come back and watch him feed it live mice.

I also remember how excited I was when his book about noise pollution was published. I learned so much from talking with him.

I’m sorry for your family’s loss. He was quite a guy!
